MICHELANGELO


Name  : Michelangelo Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni
Date of birth  : 06-03-1475
Date of death  : 18-02-1564

Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance,sculptor, painter,architect and poet.
He was one of the greatest artist in the world.

He was a wonderful creation of God. Every nerve in his body filled with art.
He was done a great service to the art field.


When we discuss about his early life ,Michelangelo was not as much of interested in schooling in his childhood and used to watching the painters at nearby churches and trying to draw what he saw there.
At the age of 13, his father agreed to apprentice him to the fashionable Florentine painter's workshop.
               When an remarkable chances came to him, he left the workshop within a year.

In 1489 he entered to the Palace of Florentine ruler Lorenzo the magnificent of the powerful medici family,
to study classical sculpture in the medici gardens.Michelangelo studied sculpture under 'Bertoldo di Giovanni'. He also attended the Humanist academy( from 1490-1492)medici had founded.
                      Michelangelo's point of view and his art were focus to the inspiration of many of the most 
prominent philosophers and writers of the day including 'Marsillo Ficino', 'Picco della', 'Mirandola' and
'Polizano' at the academy.

After the death of Lorenzo de Medici's Michelangelo returned home in 1492.
In that period he found a special permission from the Catholic churches to study cadavers for insight in to anatomy.

In 1496 Michelangelo went to Rome and he began work on a commission for Cardinal Raffaele
Riario , the Bacchus statue and the Pieta statue for St. Peter's church.

In Rome , Michelangelo lived near the church of 'Santa Maria di Loretto'.
In that period he was felt in love with 'Vittoria Colonna'(marchioness of Pescara,was an Italian noble women and poet)

Michelangelo returned Florence in 1499.Then the consuls of the Guild of Wool asked from Michelangelo to finish an uncompleted work, the David statue, a tremendous one show as symbol of Florentine Freedom.
The statue represent the Biblical Hero 'David'. So he completed it in 1504.



In 1505 Pope Julius 11 invited Michelangelo  to
The Rome again.

And he was commissioned to build the pope's tomb.
During the same period Michelangelo took the
commission to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
He spent about 4 years to complete it.(1508-1512).





His some of the famous paintings on the ceiling are
'12 Apostles against a starry sky',
'The creation of Adam',
'Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden',
'The Great flood',
'The prophet Isaiah and the Cumaean Sibyl',
and 'the last Judgement' on the altar wall.
